On the Move!!

We are happy to announce that Lil’ Shaners is walking!! He started around the first of the month…just in time for his first birthday!! We celebrated at Railroad Park in Scottsdale and he loves his PowerWheels 4×4. He has 5 teeth on the top and 2 on the bottom with other bottom ones coming in. Next thing we now, he will be talking. Stay posted for more exciting information to come…

Happy Holidays Everybody!!

Well we are all doing great!! As expected, Shane now has 2 bottom teeth and is a serious drooling machine. Now the top two are coming and he is gnawing on everything…except mom thank goodness!! We have finally closed on our new house and will barely have it ready in time for Christmas. Then we will be doing renovating over the next month.  Shane is standing on his own, but not quite walking and has gone from slugging along to full on crawling. He spent his first night elsewhere with Aunt Marnie so we were able to go to the Go Daddy Holiday party at Chase Field…Finally, a dinner alone…we’ll in this case shared with 4000 other employees. Nevertheless, it was the first adult night out we have had and it was a great party. There was fireworks, celebrities( one’s from the 80’s),  delicious food and mingling. We will be posting new pictures of  Shane at our online photo album and emailing the link to everyone.  Leslie, Shane, and I wish you all the best this holiday season and hope the new year is full of prosperity.

We now have Shane patrolling the living room  in his little walker. He loves chasing the dog and following us from the living room to the kitchen.  He also loves it when I play trombone…with my lips. If he is fussy at all, it puts a smile back on my face. Leslie gets a kick out of it as well and I think that her favorite is my version of the “Love Boat”. Shane has started eating solid foods and loves apples and bananas. He is not showing any teeth yet and we are anxiously awaiting them. Probably a good thing because he tries to chomp down on everything and is also a big fan of headbutting. We are looking at houses and will hopefully have a nice piece of property for him to explore. Keep posted for more exciting updates!!

Getting a kick!!

Shane is getting sooo big and is finally sleeping through the entire night!!  He is very eager to start crawling. When I lay him on my belly he grunts as he pushes using the back of the couch, determined to crawl away. He is holding his upper body up and has been kicking 10 fold compared to when he was in Leslie’s belly. We were chuckling the other day because Leslie would touch his left cheek and he would kick his left foot and smile, then she would touch his right cheek and he would kick his right foot. We began saying left, left, left, right left while touching his cheeks and he would march accordingly. When we put him in his baby seat that our friend Jessica got for us, he quite literally will  “peal out”  kicking, swinging and smiling. I am pretty sure he is getting a drum set for his first birthday!! He also loves swimming and he is already winning over the ladies. Leslie and I are so fortunate to have such a strong baby and are predicting that he will be walking by 9 months.  We will keep you posted!!

This tastes funny!!

Shane is growing rather quickly and we all are amazed at how big his feet are. He is a true VanderBeek!! Our friend’s father is a retired dentist and offered to make us some molds and send them of to be cast of silver.  He showed us some of the molds and they are super-cool!!  Another thing that is making us laugh is that Shane has started to stick his tongue and and lick everything. I thing he has been hanging out too much with our dog Romeo. His first nickname is “The Fonz” because everytime he sneezes, he goes AAAOOOWWWW like The Fonz. Super Adorable and Only Getting Cuter.

Our little blessing!!

On April 7, 2009 we were blessed with a baby boy.  Shane Alexander VanderBeek was delivered at 5:41pm, weighed in at 7lbs 10oz, and was 21 inches long.  We were called in at 4 am to start the induction process, around 2:30 pm, Leslie started was dilated past 5 1/2 cm’s. Around 4:45, the nurse said that she was calling our Dr. The  Dr got there, suited up and told Leslie to push…5 pushes and out popped our baby boy. WOW,  she made it look easy!!  24 hrs later we were finally released and on our way home!!!
